About the Class

Teams is a traditional form of synchronised Irish Dance called “Ceili” dancing. It’s like a more athletic type of square dancing where you see dancers linking hands and arms and swinging each other around the stage/ dance floor. Every student from Level 2 and above are encouraged to learn and participate in this original form of Irish Dance and are grouped together by age, ability and height (for arms reach sake). Boys and girls dance together in Ceili dancing and have the opportunity to compete in state, national and international championships as well as performances around Adelaide.

Teams dancing is fun and helps improve dancing technique, fitness and coordination. It also re-directs the focus off an individual dancer to their team as they all learn to adapt their style to synchronise their movements, promoting collaboration and good working relationships.

A dancer can do Teams and Performance as a standalone class, however if they want to compete or perform, they must be a minimum of Junior Championship standard of competency.

Classes run for 2hrs during SA school terms on Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Classes are held at our main hall in Clarence Gardens.
